If you’re stumped for a gift idea and are running out of time, then why not make a snack box gift? If you don’t know what to get for a teen, tween, Uncle Bob or nosey neighbour, then this snack box gift might be for you.
These are incredibly easy to put together and can be filled with anything you like. I usually start picking things up from the supermarkets when I see them on special. I keep it simple and usually select things like:
- Block of chocolate
- Bag of chocolate or caramel popcorn
- Small tub of Pringles
- Box of Maltesers or other chocolates
- Apple cider drink (for the youngsters)
- Piccolo bottle of bubbly or mini bottle of wine (for the adults)
- Tin of mints
You don’t need a lot; the key is to make it look like a lot in the box. A decorative gift box can be purchased from the cheapie shop for a few dollars, just make sure the box isn’t too big. You want everything to just fit in so the box looks nice and full. The bag of popcorn is great to use as it’s bulky and takes up a lot of space, but a bag of crisps would do the same thing. Layering your goodies in front of each other will also make the box look fuller.
The great thing with this box is you can tailor it to suit your recipient. Here are a few ideas you might like to try:
Choose a selection of different lollies (The Natural Confectionary Co is a great choice), chocolate bars, blocks of chocolate and lollypops. Add a drink like a small soft drink or fruit box, perfect for a younger child.
Movie Night Box
Select some delicious movie night snacks such as a bag of caramel/chocolate popcorn, a bag of crisps, blocks of chocolate, Maltesers, red licorice, rocky road, salted nuts and a small soft drink. Great for a tween or teen.
Think all things icecream, except the icecream. Things like Maltesers, crushed nuts, mini marshmallows, different icecream sauces, wafers, 100s and 1000s and some waffle icecream cones. Perfect for the sweet tooth.
Select two different bottles of beer, add a pack of corn chips, salted beer nuts, bag of pretzels, some beef jerky and a block of Old Gold dark chocolate. Great for a tricky-to-buy-for man.
The key with any of these gifts is select quality ingredients, make it look special. Find something to fill the bulk of the box, then add your other foods around it. Why not make a few boxes and split your goodies between them? The dessert box can easily be split to make several gifts. One box of icecream cones can be portioned and wrapped in cellophane. One big bag each of the Maltesers, 100s and 1000s, mini marshmallows and crushed nuts can be divided into several smaller bags, one for each box. Just remember to keep the box on the smaller side, and pack everything in tightly.
So if you’ve missed someone off your list, why not give this last-minute gift idea a go? Happy holidays!
