Easy to make and Freezable Savoury Snacks

 

Take a look at some of our favourite options for savoury recipes we like to make for any party and especially around Christmas.  I love these because they can be made in advance and frozen.  You can then just pull them out for those special occasions or when unexpected guests drop by.

With these savoury recipes the amount of ingredients is going to depend on how many you want to make.  I always make extra whenever I make these and freeze them for later.  Another time saver!!

 

Mini Hotdogs

Ingredients:

  • Little Boys (or cocktail franks)
  • Puff pastry sheets
  • Egg (egg wash)

 

  1. Cut the pastry sheet into 3 long sheets then cut the long sheets into 3 equal parts
  2. Place a little boy in the centre, wrap to opposite corners together
  3. Place on tray, wipe with the egg wash and bake in 180ᵒC oven for 15 minutes or until golden brown

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mini Pies

Ingredients:

  • Chuck steak or chicken thighs
  • Sauce (for beef or lamb I use gravy and for chicken 1 can of creamy chicken soup)
  • Puff pastry
  • Salt and pepper
  • Egg (egg wash)
  • Any other filling ingredient you like ie mushrooms, peas, capsicum, herbs

This is the base recipe of the pie.  You can have it as is, or add other ingredients to completely change it depending on what you like.

 

  1. Brown the meat and add in the sauce.
  2. Cool
  3. Using a cupcake tray line with pastry (make sure it goes up the size) I like to use a cup that’s slightly bigger then the tray, this ensures that the pastry goes up the sides.
  4. Fill the pastry with the filling and top with extra pastry
  5. Don’t forget to put a little slit in the top for the steam to release.
  6. Egg wash the top, bake in a 180ᵒC oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mini Quiches

Ingredients:

  • Eggs
  • Bacon (diced)
  • Tomatoes (diced)
  • Cheese
  • Onion (diced)
  • Puff pastry
  • Salt and pepper
  • Cream (I like to add a dash of cream as well)

 

  1. Combine all ingredients into a bowl, don’t forget the dash of cream.
  2. Using your cupcake or muffin tin again (just like the pies) place the pastry in each cup (don’t forget to go up the sides)
  3. Pour in the mixture top with cheese
  4. Bake in a 180ᵒC oven for 15-20 minutes

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mini Sausage Rolls

Ingredients:

  • Pork sausages
  • Puff Pastry
  • Egg (egg wash)
  • Cheese, grated (optional)
  • Dried herbs (optional)
  • Poppy seeds/sesame seeds (optional)

 

  1. Cut the pastry sheet in half to give 2 long rectangles
  2. Place sausages, end to end, in a line down the length of the pastry
  3. Brush with a little egg wash, and grate over some cheese and sprinkle with dried herbs if using
  4. Fold over the pastry, crimp the edges to close and cut into bite size pieces (should get around 4 mini sausage rolls per length)
  5. Place on a baking tray, wipe with egg wash and sprinkle with poppy/sesame seeds if using.
  6. Bake in a 220ᵒC oven for 20 minutes or until golden brown
