DIY Salt Scrub – Gift Ideas

Simple and Easy DIY Gift Ideas

Are you wondering to what to get that special person in your life, but not sure what to get them? As we get older we tend to grow out of wanting things for the sake of it.

We tend to enjoy and like receiving gifts that have more meaning and have been thought though, and I don’t know about you but those gifts that are hand made are just so special these days.

We have shown you some great gift ideas that you can make yourself, you can check them out here. But if you’re looking for something a little different that’s you can really specialise to the person you want to gift to then you can’t go pass a great salt scrub.

I can tell you that even the men in your life love these, well the younger generation anyway. Especially a coffee scrub.

We have a few great recipes you can try and great tips to gift them. Just make sure you make a jar for yourself cos I can tell you, if your like me you’ll want to keep it for yourself, they are that good.

Salt scrubs are also really simple to make, only a few ingredients needed, such an inexpensive gift to make, but a gift that any one would love to receive.

By personalising them for the individual person means you really care and have taken that little bit extra care to really make something just for them.

So what do you need:

  • Jar, glass is the best as it really shows of the salt scrub and different colours. Try different size and shape jars to keep it interesting.
  • Salt, sea salt works really well as it not as harsh as table salt just make sure it refined. A great tip if you have or your person your gifted the salt scrub too has sensitive skins then try using sugar instead. Still just as good.
  • Oil, I like to use olive oil as this is great for the skin but coconut oil works really well and has a great smell to it as well. Refreshing in summer.
  • Essential oil, like lavender, lemon or peppermint, you can use any oil as long as its top quality as some cheap versions are not so good for the skin.

The amount is going to depend on the size of the jar and how much you to make, but as a rule of thumb start with:

2 cups of unrefined sea salt

¾ cup of oil

8-10 drops of your favourite essential oil

Combine all ingredients in bowl (a glass bowl works really well) then transfer it to the jar you want to use. Make sure that the jar is air tight.

DIY Gift Ideas that are inexpensive

The best way to use the scrub is and its really handy to place this on a card note with the gift, is to gently massage onto your skin while in the shower. Wash off with warm water.

A great tip here if you’re not up with using essential oils and want to keep it really natural, then try adding in dried lavender leaves, or juice and peel of your favourite citrus fruit. It is really endless what you can do.

But how about a beautiful coffee scrub to really wake you up and your skin. All you need for this is:

1 cup of coffee grounds

1/2 cup of coconut oil

1 cup of sugar or sea salt.

For something a little extra add in 1 tablespoon vanilla extract, really adds that extra touch of luxury and the goes so will with the coffee.

You will need to melt the coconut oil to get all the ingredients to combine as the oil comes in a solid form to start with.

Then mix in all the ingredients together well, store in an air-tight jar.
